Poet, performance artist, painter, creator of precarious objects, many are the ways to name this multifaceted artist who, since the sixties, has developed a radical work, first in Chile, then internationally in cities like Bogota, London or New York. Her actions are connected with non- colonial agendas and ecological feminism. Among her works, we highlight the Quipus (knots), a creation through which Cecilia remembers an ancestral practice of the Inca cultures. The quipu, through its ties and knots, records epic reports and accounting information. Quipu testigos (Quipu witnesses), will be presented with materials coming from the artist's studio in NY (they will be sent to the biennial by FedEx). In Porto Alegre, these initial materials will be completed with garbage, branches and spoils - material witnesses of mistreated objects - which will be sent by different communities. Together, the materials will take the form of a delicate, empty, minimal quipu, capable of joining the fragments in a visual and tactile way. The quipu is a witness to the destruction of the Amazon and the massacre of indigenous peoples. It is a collective and spatial poem that involves bodies and remains. It is a project that will take place in the Biennial space as a smooth form unfolded in space. In its poetic and sculptural union of the remains, it will present itself as a form of resistance in the face of the devastation of the planet.
