DIALOGUES IN TRANCE
The "Diálogos em Transe" series of meetings, a partnership between the 13th Mercosul Biennial, PUCRS Cultura, and Tecnopuc, will take place from May to August 2022 at the PUCRS Cultura Atelier. The meetings will feature projects by artists Cesar & Lois (Brazil/United States), Elias Maroso (Brazil), Esfincter (Genietta Varsi and Luís Enrique Zela Koort, Finland/Peru), and Nati Canto (Brazil) , as well as a conversation with curators Laura Cattani and Munir Klamt . The series will discuss with the community the development of the artistic, curatorial, scientific, and executive concepts present in the "Transe" exhibition, which will be shown at the Instituto Caldeira as part of the 13th Biennial.
About the Transe exhibition
Following an open call for submissions, works by 18 artists and collectives were selected from a total of over 800 projects, evaluated by chief curator Marcello Dantas and deputy curators Carollina Lauriano, Laura Cattani, Munir Klamt, and Tarsila Riso. The exhibition proposes reflections on art, the body, nature, and technology, addressing themes such as forms of communication between living beings and artificial intelligence, transformations of the human body, and the magnetoperception that guides migratory birds. The exhibition is the result of a partnership between the 13th Mercosul Biennial and PUCRS.
According to curators Laura Cattani and Munir Klamt, "The selected projects will comprise not just an art exhibition, but an ecosystem: each work or proposition manifests as life forms that emulate desires and our Zeitgeist. Unlike a more traditional curatorial process, in which already completed works are selected, in Transe we are driven by projects, visions, ideas: these mental structures that require a welcoming support to take shape. The union of the Mercosul Biennial with Tecnopuc is a kind of ergonomic cocoon in which many of Transe's projects can be conceived through the union of two forces: art and technology."
