Sobre o evento
The Black History Museum is an initiative that aims, through public works, to highlight the presence of Black people in the city of Porto Alegre within the urban perimeter of the Historic Center. The works allow us to discuss the presence and participation of the Black community in the city from cultural, economic, religious, and political perspectives. The Black Territories: Afro-Brazilians in Porto Alegre tour aims to highlight the areas of the city that have historically constituted cultural landmarks for the Afro-Brazilian population. It promotes the visibility, through spatial references, of the cultural practices and ways of life of Black people, from their role as enslaved workers to the present day, in their journey toward recognition and affirmation in the social context as an ethnic group with notable and fundamental values, principles, and importance in the formation of a multi-ethnic and multiracial Porto Alegre.
