CHIACHIO E GIANNONE
(Buenos Aires/Córdoba, Argentina, 1969 / 1964)
We are a queer family, two male artists who are a couple in life and in art, and three children who complete our home.
Usually, embroidery is the technique that we use to develop our work. We both decided to transfer our pictorial knowledge to the textile universe and expand the limits of it’s own configurations, while trying to break the stereotype between gender and task. To carry it out, we work with materials from our home as a concept of the “universal home” and the affection linked to them. The supports of our works are old sheets, cushion covers, blankets, napkins, handkerchiefs, etc. We work with two concepts: the use of household materials with their affective load and the reuse of them, emphasizing the care of the environment and the idea of giving things a second chance.
