Esther Ferrer is a pioneer in the art of Performance in Spain. She is a feminist, anarchist and, a member of the Zaj Group created in 1964, Spain. The artist is represented in this Biennial by the work Instalación Esquina con Triángulos (Corner Installation with Triangles). The work, which is made with threads and nails over a wall, adapts to the area. The installation originates from a model that, like many others, is not dated. The threads, ordinary and fragile materials, cross the space in a serial, repetitive, and equidistant way. Although the artist makes use of electrical wiring throughout the landscape, her installation does not concern a practical functionality. The wiring defines the volume and organize the space. “In a way, it is like drawing in a void.”; says the artist. It is through facing the void or abstract landscapes that fragility gets organized, and our imagination delights due to multiple possible associations with nature or with social relations. Or, on the contrary, we can observe in a state of suspended expectation this minimalist work of repeated rhythms.
