Laryssa Machada

Laryssa Machada (Brazil, 1993) is a visual artist, photographer, and filmmaker. She constructs images as rituals of counter-colonization and expansions of freedom. Her works discuss the construction of images about LGBTs, Indigenous people, and street people – walking through the de-invasion of Brazil as a practice of visual education. She was nominated for the PIPA Prize and received the Foco ArtRio Prize in 2023. She has participated in exhibitions in the United States, England, Bolivia, Portugal, France, and several other states in Brazil. She lives between Rio de Janeiro and Salvador, Brazil.
