Vitória Cribb

(Brazil, 1996)

Vitória Cribb investigates social behavior shaped by new visual information technologies, exploring the power of digital matter as a conceptual redefinition of our existence. Her reflections encompass themes such as surveillance, digital presence, self-expression, the subconscious, new realities, and cyberspace. To do so, the artist employs the multiple possibilities of digital immateriality as a means to translate her thoughts into artworks.
echoes of a wet finger narrates a moment of impetuous attack, culminating in the metamorphosis between human and animal. In this dreamlike setting, where dream and reality are indistinguishable, the protagonist enters a state of dissociation, confronting traumas and delusions. There is no way to resist or fight back—just as when our hands are wet and, no matter how hard we try, we cannot snap our fingers.
